Meet Mizuki

The story of

Mizuki

Mizuki’s love for whiskey began at a young age when she was raised by her uncle, a whiskey importer and connoisseur in Tokyo. As a young girl, she spent many afternoons watching him presenting glasses of amber-colored liquid to his potential customers, taking in the aromas and flavors with delight. She loved listening to him talk about the different types of whiskey, the regions they came from, and the intricate processes involved in making each one.

Her uncle’s passion for whiskey was infectious, and he inspired her to set off on a journey to explore the unique flavors and cultures behind each bottle. Together, they traveled to Scotland, Ireland, and even as far as America and beyond, tasting some of the rarest and most sought-after whiskies along the way. Mizuki was always fascinated by her uncle’s ability to identify the subtle nuances and flavors of each drink they tasted. She learned a lot from him about the art of whiskey-making and how to appreciate the drink beyond just its taste.

On one of their trips to Europe, in Paris, her uncle fell in love with a French lady and decided to set up a residence in Paris. Mizuki was welcomed by her uncle’s partner and the local French community. She embraced the French language, culture, arts, and fashions. Paris became her second home, and she spent many years studying and immersing herself in the city’s beauty.

As time went by, Mizuki’s passion for whiskey grew stronger, and she continued to travel to explore the world of whiskey. However, she realized that she wanted to share her love for whiskey with others. She dreamed of creating a space where whiskey lovers could come together, share stories, and taste the best whiskeys from around the world.

As the years passed Mizuki decided to open a bar called “Maison Mizuki” which would be a tribute to the inspiration she had gained from her uncle, and the times they shared. The word “Maison” referred to the French word for “house”, a nod to her second home in Paris, symbolizing a warm and welcoming atmosphere where people could gather to enjoy the best whiskey from different countries. The bar also served truly authentic sushi and imaginative cocktails inspired by Parisian arts. The mix of cultures in the bar created a unique and vibrant atmosphere and soon it was the talk of the town.

The bar became a popular spot for whiskey lovers from all over the world. Mizuki took pride in creating a space where people could connect over their shared love for whiskey.

As she looked around the bar filled with happy customers, Mizuki felt grateful for the experiences that led her to this moment. She realized that her journey had come full circle, from her humble beginnings in Japan to her second home in Paris, and now to the bar that she had built with her own hands. She was proud to have created a place where people could come together to celebrate life’s simple pleasures and to raise a glass to the journey that brought them there.

Mizuki knows that her uncle would be proud of the legacy they created together, and although she had traveled the world and lived in many different places, she knew that Maison Mizuki would always be her true home.
